I was inspired to become a HypnoBirthing instructor because of my amazing experience with HypnoBirthing when I gave birth to my first child.

Before I became pregnant, I was terrified of giving birth. I was so scared of experiencing pain that I figured when I had babies, I would just rush to the hospital and get an epidural in order get through labor while experiencing as little discomfort as possible.

As my husband and I started thinking about trying to have a baby, I began to research natural childbirth. I was shocked at what I saw. Some of the women whose stories I read were describing their births as empowering, joyful, exciting, and fun! They weren't describing their births in terms of pain and misery.

The more I researched, the more I knew that I wanted a natural birth. I wanted to feel great and really experience birth, not just 'get through it.'

When I became pregnant, we hired a midwife and began planning for a natural home birth.

Despite hearing some stories of wonderful births and hiring an amazing midwife, I was still scared of giving birth.

When the time came to take a childbirth education class, we asked my midwife for her suggestion, and she highly recommended HypnoBirthing.  We decided to take the class, and put in the effort to practice all of the techniques we learned.

Several months after taking the class, when I was 35 weeks pregnant, my membranes released and my labor began. I was heartbroken and worried because my baby was so early. I was also grieving because we had to have our baby in the hospital, and not at home like we had planned.

A few hours we arrived at the hospital and settled in I accepted the fact that my birth would be a little different from what I had planned, and I was finally able to relax.

I laid in the hospital bed as my husband and I used all of the relaxation techniques that we had learned in HypnoBirthing. I immediately went into the state of deep relaxation that we had practiced for several months before the birth of our baby. I relaxed so completely that I slept between each surge until my body was fully dilated and I was able to breath my baby down, rather than utilizing forced pushing.

Giving birth was one of the most incredible things that I have ever experienced! I actually enjoyed my birthing experience as I trusted my birthing body and released all of my fears. I was so empowered. After giving birth, I just kept thinking, 'That was amazing, I can't wait to do it again!'

I know that my experience would not have been what it was without HypnoBirthing. The class taught me to recognize the hallmarks of labor, listen to the signs of my body, and fully and completely relax and enjoy labor.  HypnoBirthing taught my husband how to help me in birth. It taught him how to make my birthing experience the best that it could be.

I used HypnoBirthing for the birth of my second child in June 2018. I was able to give birth to my daughter peacefully at home surrounded by my wonderful birth team, my precious husband, and our almost 4 year old son (Yes, he wanted to see his baby sister be born! He even cut the umbilical cord!)

I think HypnoBirthing can have a wonderful impact on a mother's birthing experience, and my desire is to help parents experience the joy and empowerment that can accompany birth.
